WE'RE CONNECTED GLOBALLY!

As part of the Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church and the worldwide United Methodist Church, Crossroads UMC is connected to a worldwide network whose mission is "to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world."

No matter how or where they serve Jesus Christ, United Methodists do God’s work in a unique structure—referred to as “the connection." This concept has been central to Methodism from its beginning. Connectionalism comes to life through our clergy appointment system, our mission and outreach, and through our collective giving. We live out our call to mission and ministry by engaging in ministry with the poor, combating diseases of poverty by improving health globally, creating new places for new people and renewing existing congregations, and developing principled Christian leaders. No one congregation can do all these ministries, but together—through the power of our connection—we can make a tremendous difference.

DO YOU KNOW JESUS?

Do you realize that your decision to connect with God is the most important decision you will ever make? It is a decision that affects your life now and forever. The Bible says that God really does want the best for you. And because of that, He gave the best He had to give. Jesus!

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in him will not die but have eternal life." John 3:16

The Problem.

However, connecting to God is not possible because of sin. We all have sinned and that leads to death and an eternity separated from God.

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
"The wages of sin is death." Romans 6:23

But death was not God’s plan for us. Life is God’s plan for us. Abundant and eternal life! Romans 5:8 says, "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."

Our Connection to God!

Jesus came to give everyone abundant and eternal life with God. Jesus himself said that, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." Jesus proved Hewas unique in that He came to earth, died on a cross, and was raised to life.It was because of that, that we can have new life in Jesus Christ!

Nothing or nobody else but Jesus could have fixed the problem. Not even your best religious or moral efforts would have gotten God’s attention. "God saved you by his special favor when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things
we have done, so none of us can boast about it." Ephesians 2:8-9

Trust.

So, we all have to turn to God for forgiveness of sin and trust that Jesus died to give you new life. "…turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord."Acts 3:19

By professing your trust in Jesus you are putting total faith in what He did to give you eternal and abundant life. Faith is pushing forward in a new relationship with Jesus Christ. It is seeking him with all of your heart and allowing Him to change you from the inside out.

Would you like to connect to God through personal relationshipwith Jesus?

If you are ready, talk to God right now heart-to-heart. This prayer is only a help for you to express your heart’s desire of what you believe. God, thanks for loving me enough to send your one and only Son to die for me. I realize and believe I am a sinner. I also believe that Jesus died and was raised to life so that I may connect with you forever. I want to turn from my way of life and follow Jesus and His way. Right now, I invite Jesus to come into my life and take over. Thank you God for giving me new life. In Jesus name!

Spiritual Growth.

By placing your trust in God, you are also trusting that God will help you in your new journey.

There are 4 essentials to growth as a new believer in Christ.

Pray – Talk to God. What about? Everything. When? Anytime. Where?Everywhere.

Read and get to know the Jesus of the Bible – The Bible is God’s way of letting us know what is up. It contains history, principles, and stories that are relevant and helpful for living life in today’s world. Start in the book of John and then move on to other books.

Plug into a church – Get involved in a Bible-teaching church that is outreach oriented and intentional about living for God. Meet the pastor and tell him about your new decision. Ask him about small group ministries or baptism.

Tell others – Tell others (friends, family, co-workers) about your new relationship with Jesus Christ.

We thank God for you now as a Bible writer did for those who accepted Christ then. He said, "…we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in
you who believe." (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

The mission of Crossroads is to offer Christ to all who seek a personalrelationship with him - and we love doing it!
